The Placer County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is celebrating its 175th anniversary. Established on April 25, 1851, during the Gold Rush, the department has grown to a force of over 600 officers serving nearly 500,000 residents in Placer County.
In a recent social media post, the PCSO announced plans to commemorate its history and recognize the individuals who have contributed to its success. Deputies will have the option to wear specially designed 175th anniversary badges, available in 24K gold-plated or sterling silver with hand engraving. The badges are intended to symbolize the trust placed in the department by the community.
Fans and followers of PCSO can view the commemorative badges, made by Northern California’s Ed Jones Co., which has been producing law enforcement badges since 1898. The badges are purchased by deputies themselves.
The PCSO plans to use social media throughout the year to highlight stories and milestones from its 175-year history. According to a Facebook post, the initiative will share moments and traditions that have shaped the department and provide information about its operations and history.
