
Authorities in West Texas are searching for a 15-year-old Plains girl, Maryuri Yolani Gomez Marquez, who is believed to be traveling with a 41-year-old man wanted by law enforcement. The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an AMBER Alert after she was last seen Sunday morning and warned that the teen may be in danger. Investigators say the two may be in a black 2010 Ford F-150 with Texas license plate WGV-9997.
State Alert Details Teen’s Description And Last Known Sighting
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Maryuri is a 15-year-old Hispanic female who is about 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs around 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. The agency identifies 41-year-old Juan Orlando Garcia Sarmiento as the man she was last seen with.
The DPS flier states that Maryuri was last seen at about 8 a.m. on Dec. 28 in Plains and urges anyone with information to contact the agency’s tip line.
Yoakum County: Man Sought On Related Charges
The Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Garcia Sarmiento “is wanted by law enforcement on related charges” and that local partners are actively working to locate the teen, as reported by News 4 San Antonio.
Authorities have described the vehicle tied to the case as a black 2010 Ford F-150 crew cab with Texas plates WGV-9997.
Amber Alert Canceled As Investigators Chase International Leads
The public flier from DPS shows the AMBER Alert marked “Discontinued” on January 2 at 4 p.m., and officials say the case is now being handled across multiple agencies.
Local reporting indicates that Texas Rangers have what they call “credible information” that Maryuri and Garcia Sarmiento may have left the country, according to KCBD.
