As the weekend progresses, NWS Portland indicates that rain will continue, with an east wind around 8 mph tomorrow and a high near 54 degrees. The likelihood of precipitation will to rise to about 90%. It's a similar story for tomorrow night, with an increase in the wind's intensity and new precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
Come Sunday, the rainy weather isn't likely to let up, with high temperatures hovering near 51 degrees and south southwest winds around 10 mph, coupled with higher gusts up to 20 mph. The NWS forecasts a 90% chance of precipitation. Sunday night, the rain is expected to persist, and temperatures will dip to around 43 degrees, as Portlanders brace for yet another wet beginning to their week.
Heading into Monday, the chance of rain decreases slightly to 50 percent before late afternoon, suggesting a brief respite from the consistent rainfall dominating the region's weather pattern. As we look further ahead into next Tuesday through Thursday, the steady pattern of rain continues, with cloudy days and highs consistent in the upper 40s, further reinforcing what appears to be an undeniably soggy start to the new year for Portland residents.
