
Two Portland Police Bureau officers were injured in a hit-and-run incident. According to the City of Portland, the incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. near Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, when a vehicle struck the officers’ patrol car as they responded to a call with lights and sirens activated. The collision caused significant damage to the passenger side of the patrol vehicle.
The impact caused the airbags to deploy and temporarily trapped one officer inside the vehicle. Portland Fire & Rescue assisted by opening the door, and both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being released. The other vehicle left the scene and is being sought by authorities. It is described as a dark-colored Chevy Suburban with front-end damage, including a damaged front bumper.
Police Chief Bob Day stated that both officers were able to return home following the incident and acknowledged the assistance of partner agencies.
