The Seattle Police Department is opening the floor to public input on the matter of community safety with its upcoming "Our City, Our Safety" conversation. This event marks the first in the series for the year 2026 and is aimed at residents of Seattle who wish to participate in shaping the safety strategies within their neighborhoods.
Slated for January 14, 2026, Seattle's Chief of Police Shon Barnes, along with leaders from the department's South Precinct, will be hosting this forum. According to a social media post from the Seattle Police Department, the event promises to be a "frank conversation about safety." Residents with concerns and ideas are encouraged to attend and help influence the strategies that will affect their daily lives.
The gathering is set for 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Rainier Beach Community Center, located at 8825 Rainier Ave South. This is part of an ongoing effort by Seattle's police force to foster a more collaborative relationship with the communities they serve, by involving citizens directly in the conversation about their own safety.
