Seattle woke up bright, clear and brutally cold on Saturday, January 24, 2026, with Boeing Field (KBFI) checking in near 27°F and barely a whisper of wind. A Cold Weather Advisory remained in effect for parts of the city through 9:00 a.m. PST, and officials urged people to take extra care of themselves, their pets and anyone working outside in the chill.
Afternoon And Tonight
The payoff for the frosty start is sunshine. Skies stay mostly clear through Saturday afternoon, with temperatures climbing to around 44°F and a light north breeze near 2 mph. Late in the day, readings slip back toward 41°F before sliding to about 27°F overnight as skies turn partly cloudy.
If you are heading out this evening, layers are your friend and pets are better off indoors. The advisory highlighted the risk of hypothermia with prolonged exposure in these temperatures. Conditions should remain calm through today, according to NWS Seattle.
Sunday Through Early Week
Sunday keeps the cool-and-bright theme going. Expect another cold morning followed by mostly sunny skies and highs near 44°F. Monday edges a bit milder but also cloudier, with highs in the mid-40s and only a slight chance of light rain west of Puget Sound.
Most commuters should find dry roads, but the low overnight temperatures mean untreated sidewalks and exposed pipes could still take a hit. A quick check of outdoor spigots and a little extra caution on shaded walkways would not be overkill.
Midweek Rain Chances
A weak weather system starts to shake things up Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a better chance of light rain that lingers into Thursday and Friday. Forecasters expect snow levels to hold around 4,000 to 5,000 feet, so lower-elevation snow is unlikely and mountain snowfall should stay on the modest side.
Mariners should keep an eye out for building swell and higher seas into Wednesday as the pattern changes. According to NWS Seattle, precipitation chances tick up midweek, but heavy rain is not on the table yet.
If You Need Help
Anyone needing heating or shelter assistance can call 2-1-1 or visit WA 211 for local resources and warming centers. The advisory also urged residents to avoid running generators indoors and to check in on older neighbors, pets and outdoor workers as the cold lingers.
Small steps, like bringing pets inside, insulating exposed pipes and keeping a warm coat handy for early outings, can make these icy mornings a lot more manageable.
