A Southfield man has been charged following a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 71-year-old disabled veteran in Oak Park last November. The suspect, Devin Asa-Armon Light, 28, was arraigned on Thursday, facing a charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death; this is reported by WXYZ.
According to CBS Detroit, the incident occurred early on November 22, 2025, when the veteran was struck by a motorist while in the road at West Nine Mile Road and Harding Street near Greenfield Road the victim, found in the roadway and despite authorities' efforts to save his life, died at the scene, which led investigators to seek out a dark gray 2023-2026 Hyundai Elantra.
Oak Park police later found an abandoned vehicle matching the description, a 2024 dark gray Hyundai Elantra, located in Detroit. No information on what led to the incident or the circumstances surrounding it has been released thus far.
