St. Charles Parish residents, prepare to plan around scheduled road closures: St. Charles Parish officials have announced a series of road closures for essential infrastructure projects that will likely impact commutes and local traffic patterns over the next months. Hwy 628, also known as CC Road, will be closed from January 26, 2026, through March 13, 2026, to allow for the driving of sheet pile along the road's edge and batter piles. The stretch between the KCS railroad and Hwy 61 will not be open; however, the road will be accessible from KCS railroad to the spillway road and River Road. Haul trucks, Cembell Industries, and Vickers Lane residents are advised to use Spillway Road or River Road instead, according to a statement obtained by the St. Charles Parish Government's official website.
For those utilizing Jonathan Street in Destrehan, note that it remains closed "until further notice". In what may be seen as an endeavor to reduce disruption, emergency vehicles can use Bunge’s heavy haul road to access Noel Street to circumvent Lorraine Street. Ormond Center Court is experiencing constrictions from 150 Ormond Center Court (Reginelli’s) to 3001 Ormond Blvd (Buddy's Frostop) due to road construction as well, with a detour in place enabling vehicle passage, as detailed by the St. Charles Parish.
Additional closures are affecting US 61 (Airline Drive), where paving work caused recurring single-lane closures from January 11 through the morning of January 16. The partial closure between LA 50 (Almedia Road) and Ormond Boulevard led many drivers to use alternate routes during nighttime work.
LA 3127 is also under construction between the St. James Parish Line and the St. Charles Parish Line, with intermittent and alternating lane closures in place from November 3, 2025, through October 30, 2026. The project includes drainage work and asphalt paving, and oversized vehicles wider than 12 feet are restricted, as reported by the St. Charles Parish.
To avoid the LA 3127 work zone, eastbound drivers can detour using LA 3213, LA 641, I-10, and I-310, while westbound drivers should use I-310, I-10, LA 641, and LA 3213. Drivers should also expect additional intermittent lane and shoulder closures for utility work from December 6, 2025, through February 27, 2026, on weekdays and some weekends.
