St. Louis County is stepping up its game in the battle against gun violence with an initiative aimed at reducing shootings and homicides by a significant 20 percent over the next three years. This ambitious effort, titled 'Save Lives Now!', is not just a slogan but a comprehensive, evidence-based strategy that pulls in resources and expertise from diverse sectors.
The approach leverages successful anti-violence strategies deployed in other U.S. cities like Baltimore and Boston, according to a post from St. Louis County. These strategies are set to be enacted through collaboration among government leaders, law enforcement, street outreach professionals, and behavioral health experts, alongside community and civic leaders, a marrying of minds and action in the face of firearms.
To equip the community with details and enlist their support, a town hall meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at 6 p.m. It will take place at the St. Louis County Library – Clark Family Branch. This forum will offer residents an opportunity to learn more about the methods being put into motion, and most importantly, to voice their own questions and concerns.
For those interested in attending, or who want to arm themselves with information, details and event access can be found on St. Louis County's Facebook page.
