As St. Louis residents shake off their morning dreariness, the National Weather Service forecasts a chance for the skies to clear later today. After an overcast morning with the possibility of rain, the city should expect a high near 47 degrees Fahrenheit. Northwest winds may reach up to 25 mph, according to the NWS update. While the humidity hovers around 93%, the gradual clearing through mid-morning could bring some much-needed respite from the dampness.
However, the reprieve will be short-lived as tonight's forecast suggests scattered rain showers might turn into flurries. With a 30 percent chance of precipitation, a chilly low around 26 degrees is expected. The wind chill, having dropped to a biting 32 degrees earlier, could make these conditions feel more severe even as the gusts push to a similar intensity of up to 26 mph.
The outset of the week offers a kinder gesture; Sunday is predicted to dawn sunny with a mild high near 39 degrees. The comparatively calm Northwest wind may provide a gentle push to any lingering clouds, conceding to a mostly clear night and a low around 28 degrees.
Coming into Monday, the NWS promises an unfurling of sunlight and a high nearing 53 degrees. Winds are set to remain modest from the west, ensuring that the reprieve is not merely a whisper but a sustained murmur of fairer weather. As the sun sets, the clarity in the sky should persist, ushering in a cooler, though not harsh, low around 39.
Looking further ahead, into midweek, temperatures are seen to hover near 60 degrees by Tuesday. Although the weather might close in again with clouds, as Wednesday's high is capped around 45 degrees and the night could bring temperatures down to about 23. By the time Thursday rolls around, the city is forecast to see mostly sunny skies with a high in the upper 30s.
