The City of St. Louis is preparing for an upcoming winter storm with pretreated snow routes and a planned snow removal response. The Street Department applied 60,000 gallons of brine by Friday morning to help manage expected snowfall.
According to the City of St. Louis Facebook post, a fleet of 48 dump trucks, four 1-ton trucks, and three brine trucks, supported by 90 staff members, will service streets under normal snowfall conditions. During severe snowfall, defined as over an inch per hour, crews will focus on main roads, school entrances, and intersections first, with side streets addressed afterward.
Additional vehicles and staff from other city departments, including 13 trucks and two utility tractors from Parks, Recreation and Forestry, are on standby. The Neighborhood Stabilization Division will conduct quality control checks to support the Street Department’s operations. Crews will deploy as needed based on actual weather conditions.
