As St. Louis emerges from under the thick blanket of snow that has covered its streets and neighborhoods, the city's Street Department crews are working tirelessly to restore normalcy. According to a recent update from the City of St. Louis Government, we are now nearly 48 hours past the snowfall, and the efforts to clear the roads are making significant progress. Key snow routes are described as passable, with many revealing the pavement underneath due to the combined efforts of sunlight and the chemicals being applied.
Understanding that the battle against the snow is a community effort, the city's social media post encourages residents to lend a hand to neighbors in need. "We know this can cause some issues as our plows push snow toward cars and driveways, and we ask for your support in assisting any neighbors who may need help digging out cars, sidewalks or driveways," the City of St. Louis Government states. As the temperatures rise, the chemicals utilized by the street crews will become more effective, hastening the clearing process.
Focus has shifted this morning to residential areas, where the goal is to prevent the formation of long-term icy conditions that can result from leftover snow and ice. The Street Department continues their plowing in rotating 12-hour shifts, ensuring a consistent attack on the remnants of the winter storm's aftermath.
