
The Sunrise Community Coalition recently unveiled a new logo to the public, marking a revamped visual identity aligned with the coalition's present mission and activities. As reported by the Sunrise Corridor Newsletter, community members can expect to see this updated branding across various items like sweatshirts, tablecloths, and printed materials during local events. This logo launch comes amid the coalition's ongoing efforts to engage the community in shaping the future of the Sunrise Corridor.
The Metro’s Parks and Nature Community Choice Grants program is entering a design phase, with community input guiding the projects. Of over 170 submissions from six districts, 50 ideas will move forward in February workshops. Park providers, advisory boards, planners, and community partners will collaborate to develop improvements for local parks and nature spaces.
Residents will vote on workshop designs in the spring, influencing which projects receive funding. Final decisions will be made by the Metro Council in the summer. The Sunrise Community Coalition supports these projects as part of its broader community development efforts.
The Coalition partners with the Clackamas County Office of Economic Development to connect education with job opportunities in the Sunrise Corridor. Initiatives focus on short-term projects to support education-to-employment pathways, expected to be completed by fall 2026. Training and work-based learning programs aim to improve residents’ economic prospects.
Friends of Trees and the Coalition will hold a tree-planting event on February 7 to create greener spaces, especially in heat-impacted areas. As part of Lunar New Year celebrations, the Coalition is also sponsoring the Oregon 2026 Lunar New Year Gala on January 31, hosted by the Chinese Friendship Association of Portland. The event highlights the Coalition’s commitment to diversity and community partnerships.
Marchelle Paholsky, a Leadership Cohort Member of the Coalition and Happy Valley resident, shared her experiences with the Sunrise Corridor Newsletter. “This whole project is really about people,” she said, emphasizing the importance of community empowerment in the Coalition’s initiatives.
