The Mooresville Police Department has recently made headway in an armed robbery case that occurred at the local Dollar Tree store. According to a social media post from the department, the suspect, identified as David Daniel Hunter, was apprehended on Wednesday, with the help of U.S. Marshals in Bristol, Virginia, connected to a robbery that took place this past Sunday.

After responding to the crime scene at the Dollar Tree located at 221-R Norman Station Blvd, officers reviewed surveillance footage showing the suspect wielding a handgun and demanding money from the store's safe. Following the suspect fleeing with the stolen cash, and a phone from the store, an investigation revealed that Hunter was allegedly involved in multiple armed robberies. Warrants were obtained and the suspect vehicle, a dark-colored Honda sedan, was tracked down by detectives.

Hunter, 62, from China Grove, North Carolina, is now facing charges for Robbery with Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Firearm by a Felon. Authorities indicate that additional charges are pending both from Mooresville Police Department and other jurisdictions.

The collaborative effort to arrest Hunter was acknowledged by the Mooresville Police Department, extending thanks to both the U.S. Marshals Service and the Bristol, Virginia Police Department. As reported by the department's Facebook update, Hunter is currently being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority in Abingdon, Virginia, pending extradition proceedings.
