
The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for the Tampa area, in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. EST Tuesday. Forecasted wind chills could drop to 26 degrees, prompting caution, according to the National Weather Service.
There’s a 40% chance of showers before 9 a.m., with temperatures rising to around 70 by noon before falling to about 59 later in the day. Gusty northwest winds will shift quickly in the morning. Overnight lows are expected near 36 degrees.
The advisory warns that parts of southwest and west-central Florida may see cold temperatures that could cause hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Residents are advised to wear hats and gloves and check on vulnerable community members.
The NWS forecasts a mostly clear night with blustery north winds and lows in the mid-30s. Sunny skies are expected through the week, with cool mornings and nights. Friday’s high is forecast near 64 degrees.
The advisory urges residents to exercise caution while traveling, use portable heaters safely, and avoid running generators or grills indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. The NWS emphasizes the importance of community readiness during this cold spell.
