In a straightforward account of a drug-related arrest in Jonesborough, the Washington County Sheriff's Office - TN, reported on a Telford woman apprehended with a substantial quantity of methamphetamine. The individual in question, 50-year-old Loretta Lynn Howington, faces charges including Manufacture/Delivery/Sale/Possession of Methamphetamine. The arrest came after a vehicle stop on Roy Green Road, where Howington was a passenger.
The stop was initially made because the driver, identified as Brooks Ellis, 45, of Limestone, was recognized for having a suspended license and was subsequently issued a misdemeanor citation. During the stop, the deputies' K9 Cain conducted an open-air sniff and signaled near the passenger door. This led to the discovery of a pipe in the passenger side floorboard, and upon further search of Howington, deputies found a bag containing 8.5 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
This development was detailed in a social media post from the Washington County Sheriff's office, which detailed the sequence of the stop and subsequent arrest. "Upon searching Howington, Deputies discovered a baggie containing 8.5 grams of a white, crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine," the post explained.
Following her arrest, Howington was transferred to the Washington County Detention Center, where she has been held on a $10,000 bond. She appeared in court for these charges on January 12, a day before the Washington County Sheriff's Office released the social media statement. The implications of her legal situation remain to be seen as the case continues to unfold.
