Three teens have faced the reckoning of law after a brazen armed robbery in Willoughby led to a high-speed chase and, ultimately, to prison terms. The Willoughby Police Department has confirmed that the individuals involved are Da'nerow K. Logan and Joseph D. Smith, both 18 at the time of the crime, and Currency B. Fitzgerald, who was 17 when the incident took place. Pursuant to their respective guilty pleas, Logan has been sentenced to 9 to 11 and a half years in prison, while Smith has received a 6 to 7 and a half-year sentence. Fitzgerald awaits his sentencing set for February 27.

The course of events, as detailed by Cleveland19, began on the evening of July 29, 2025. The victim, having been robbed at gunpoint at the Willo Park Apartments, managed to provide a description of the suspect's vehicle, which allowed the police to locate and attempt to stop the car. Despite their efforts, the driver initiated a pursuit which ended only after police maneuvered to halt the vehicle, leading the suspects to attempt an escape on foot.

Found with several firearms upon executing a search warrant at a residence in Maple Heights, it was discovered that one of the seized weapons, a Smith & Wesson M&P-15 rifle, had been stolen from East Cleveland and linked to five separate incidents in the area. This finding was a joint effort as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives joined forces with local authorities, as obtained by WKYC.

The Willoughby Police Department, in a statement to FOX8, praised the collaborative efforts of several agencies, including the Bedford and Maple Heights Police Departments, the United States Secret Service, and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. These partnerships, they say, were key in the arrest, investigation, and subsequent prosecution of the offenders. Reflecting on how a single act spiraled into a broader saga of crime and punishment, one individual initially detained was determined not to be related to the robbery and has not been identified.
