Last night, the Long Beach Police Department was called to the scene of two separate shooting incidents, one resulting in injury, and the other with no reported injuries but resulting in an arrest. According to an official summary on the Long Beach Police Department's website, the LBPD is actively investigating both events.
The first incident, a hit shooting, occurred in the 1900 Block of Pacific Avenue, where a male adult victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was reportedly riding a bike at the time of the incident, which took place just after 1 a.m. on January 14. Despite his injuries, he managed to ride to a nearby business, where bystanders called the police. Responders provided aid until the Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the man to a local hospital. The victim, however, was "uncooperative with the investigation" as per the police report.
Shortly before this incident, around 9:15 p.m. on January 13, a no-hit shooting was reported at the 1400 Block of East 14th Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found evidence indicating a shooting had taken place, but no injuries were reported. A male adult suspect was located and arrested near the location. The motive behind this shooting remains under investigation, with no further details provided on the circumstances that led to it.
In terms of the ongoing investigations, neither incident has clear suspect information or established motives. The LBPD has not released additional information about the suspect apprehended following the no-hit shooting, and the details surrounding the hit shooting are scant due to the victim's lack of cooperation. Community members with any information on these events are encouraged to contact the Long Beach Police Department, as these investigations continue to evolve.
