Following a string of arrests related to a violent shooting in Michigan in May 2025, U.S. Marshals announced that two suspects had been apprehended in the Toledo area. According to the U.S. Marshals, as reported by Cleveland19, Montez White, 27, was captured yesterday, and Tyrek Rice, 28, was taken into custody during a vehicle stop last December.
Wanted for charges including open murder and assault with the intent to murder, the suspects allegedly played roles in the violent episode that resulted in one fatality and four injuries. Despite their efforts, the task force is still looking for Dion Flowers, 29, who is considered armed and dangerous and remains at large.
A joint effort by the Northern Ohio Violent Task Force and the Toledo Police SWAT Team led to the seamless arrests, emphasizing their relentless pursuit to bring the suspects to justice, as highlighted in WTVG's report. Rice was apprehended without incident at a traffic stop, and White's arrest occurred at a Toledo address, also without complication.
The one still on the loose, Dion Flowers, is connected to the same series of crimes that took place on Lincoln St. in Jackson, Michigan. Standing 5-feet-5 inches and weighing 175 pounds, Flowers is described as a black male. U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott, referring to the continued efforts to capture Flowers, said, "Investigators in Ohio and Michigan will not stop searching for this last remaining fugitive until he is behind bars. There is nowhere to hide in Ohio, our task force will find you," according to a statement obtained by Cleveland19.
The authorities are reaching out to the public for assistance, offering a reward for information leading to Flowers' arrest.
