What started as an early evening home invasion in Violet ended with two men in custody and a third picked up on an unrelated warrant, after deputies say an armed trio forced its way into a local residence and then sped off in a silver Nissan Maxima. According to a Facebook post by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, three people pushed into the home around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and one intruder pulled a firearm. No one inside was hurt, and the group took off in the Maxima. Deputies later obtained arrest warrants, and on Jan. 22 two suspects were arrested while a third person was booked on a separate bench warrant. Those arrested included a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old man.
The sheriff's office identified the 24-year-old as Deshawn Spencer, who was booked on charges that include armed robbery (use of a firearm), refusal to give name or identification, and possession of marijuana, and noted he also had an outstanding bench warrant for aggravated second-degree battery. The post named the 19-year-old as Perrion Bailey, who was booked as a principal to armed robbery, and said 43-year-old Cody Jones was taken into custody on an unrelated bench warrant for contributing to the delinquency of minors. The sheriff's Special Operations Division executed the arrest warrants, and the department shared photos from the scene in its public update.
How deputies say the robbery unfolded
Victims told investigators that three people came into the home and one of them showed a firearm before the group left. Deputies say the suspects drove off in a silver Nissan Maxima that witnesses reported seeing leave the area. No injuries were reported, and investigators described the confrontation as an isolated dispute among acquaintances rather than a random break-in.
Legal status and booking details
Spencer and Bailey were booked into the St. Bernard Parish Prison on the charges listed by the sheriff's office, while Jones was processed on his outstanding bench warrant. Being booked means charges have been filed with local authorities, but all three are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Detectives said they will forward case files and evidence to the parish district attorney's office for formal charging decisions.
