The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an upcoming online rendezvous for the Western Upper Peninsula Citizens' Advisory Council. They're set to virtually convene on Jan. 28, a Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., according to a release on the DNR's website. On the docket for the session are updates to the U.P. snowmobile trail system, discussions on the fish guiding in Michigan's lakes, and a partnership related to winter boating access site snowplowing, among other business.
These meetings are meant to drive direct local feedback into the state's management of its natural resources. With an eye towards improving departmental responsiveness, they will also look to elect council officers and sort through both new and old business items. Those who wish to wholeheartedly attend the event or provide public comment can reach out to Kristi Dahlstrom at [email protected] or call 906-226-1331 for further details.
Established to provide regional insights to the DNR, the councils encompass diverse interests ranging from environmental conservation to recreational activities. The council members, hailing from various backgrounds, work actively to ensure that their recommendations reflect both their expertise and community needs.
