Someone who stopped by Hilltop Red Apple Market in Seattle just turned a $1 gamble into a six-figure payday.
A Hit 5 Cashpot ticket worth $110,000 was sold at the Beacon Hill grocery, which state lottery reporting identified as the retail location where the winning ticket for the Feb. 6 drawing was purchased. According to The News Tribune, the winning numbers for that Friday’s draw were 4, 8, 11, 36 and 40, and the ticket came from Hilltop Red Apple Market at 2701 Beacon Ave. S. The News Tribune notes the winner will need to follow Washington Lottery claim procedures to collect the prize.
How Hit 5 works
Per Washington's Lottery, a Hit 5 play costs $1 and the Cashpot starts at $100,000 and grows until a ticket matches all five numbers. The odds of doing that are about 1 in 851,000. Drawings are held nightly at 8 p.m., and ticket sales cut off at 7:45 p.m.
The shop's lucky streak
Hilltop Red Apple has a bit of a reputation for being a lucky stop. The store has a history of selling winning tickets and regularly shows up on lists of retailers tied to multiple big prizes. That pattern appears in Washington Lottery retail results and is noted by HeraldNet.
Claiming and help
According to Washington's Lottery, winners with prizes above $600 must claim through a Washington Lottery regional office. The agency advises signing and safeguarding the ticket before contacting lottery officials for instructions. The Lottery site lists claim forms and contact information, and if gambling is a concern, the national hotline, 1-800-522-4700, is available per The News Tribune.
