In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a multi-family home in Clermont County was engulfed in flames, leaving 10 residents and several pets without shelter. The fire, reported by Local 12, began around 3:45 a.m. at a Patterson Avenue property in Bethel. As the blaze took hold of the second floor and swiftly spread, local fire departments were quick to respond to the emergency.
A total of six fire departments arrived on the scene to battle the conflagration, a joint effort that saw ten people, including families with children, evacuated safely. The devastating incident also involved multiple pets - at least ten cats, two dogs, a turtle, and a lizard. According to FOX19 NOW, Bethel Tate Fire Chief Chris Cooper confirmed that all residents escaped harm, but the family's dwelling stood as a total loss in the aftermath.
Amid the chaos and rubble, while no human injuries were reported, one cat remains missing as firefighters continue to search. The American Red Cross has been engaged to aid the displaced individuals in the face of such sudden homelessness. As reported by WLWT, Chief Cooper stated, "All of the people living in the home made it out, along with nine cats, two dogs as well as turtles and lizards." The search for the tenth cat is ongoing.
The cause of the catastrophic fire remains a mystery, with investigations underway to uncover the origins of the blaze. Chief Cooper relayed that the structure itself has been judged beyond repair, indicating the severity of the incident. A full damage estimate has yet to be calculated as authorities comb through the debris.
