Last Saturday in Jackson was abruptly interrupted when police recovered a man’s body from Jackson Creek behind a cluster of downtown businesses, and now the small Amador County city is waiting for answers.
Jackson police responded around 1:45 PM to a report of a possible person in the water and found a partially dressed man in the creek behind the Gordon Hill Flower Shop and nearby Davenport properties. Officers pulled the body from the water and began processing the scene. Officials say the man has been identified, but his name is being held until relatives are notified, and the cause of death is still under investigation.
According to CBS Sacramento, investigators have not shared additional details about what led up to the discovery.
Where It Happened
The section of Jackson Creek involved runs behind a tight strip of downtown storefronts, pressed up against several small businesses. The florist’s own site lists a State Highway 88 address for Gordon Hill Flower Shop, and public property records place Davenport Properties on Main Street, which together pin the discovery to a built-up commercial block in Jackson. Gordon Hill Flower Shop and LoopNet show the nearby business locations.
Investigation Underway
Authorities say they have not yet determined how the man ended up in the water or what caused his death. As CBS Sacramento reported, detectives recovered the body at the scene and are keeping the victim’s name confidential until family members can be notified.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Jackson Police Department non‑emergency line at (209) 223‑1771 or call 911 in an emergency, according to the department. So far, local officials have not announced any arrests or named any suspects.
