A routine inspection at Laredo’s Juarez–Lincoln International Bridge turned into a felony arrest on Jan. 9, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers pulled a 60-year-old traveler aside for a secondary screening and discovered he was wanted on an incest charge out of Louisiana. Using database checks, officers confirmed his identity and the outstanding warrant before taking him into custody, according to WOAI.
As reported by WOAI, the man was identified as Francisco Servin, a 60-year-old U.S. citizen wanted by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in Slidell. He is accused of failing to appear in connection with an alleged 2021 incest case. WOAI reports that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers transported Servin to the Webb County jail in Laredo for adjudication of the warrant, and later updated its story with additional information attributed to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
How Officers Flagged Him
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, officers at the port of entry rely on biometric verification tools and federal law‑enforcement databases during secondary examinations to confirm a traveler’s identity and check for outstanding warrants. The agency credits those systems with repeatedly helping officers at the Juarez–Lincoln crossing spot fugitives who might otherwise slip through.
Legal Next Steps
Per the WOAI report, Servin has been wanted on the felony warrant since 2021 and will remain in Webb County custody while the warrant is adjudicated and Louisiana officials decide on any extradition. The criminal allegations remain unresolved, and authorities have not released information on a Texas court date or any additional charges.
