
A 17-year-old student is facing pending charges after school safety staff and NYPD officers recovered a loaded handgun linked to a Bronx charter school incident on Tuesday, authorities said.
According to police, the teen walked through the school's metal detectors, then left the building and was stopped nearby. Officers say they found a loaded Smith & Wesson in his jacket pocket and took him into custody as the investigation got underway.

The NYPD told investigators the student had exited the building after passing through the school's scanners and was caught close by, where officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson from his jacket pocket, according to PIX11. The outlet reported the arrest took place at Bronx Prep Charter School and noted that the case remains under review by police. A New York City public schools spokesperson declined to comment, PIX11 added.
