A Brookhaven man has entered a guilty plea in the sexual abuse case involving his two stepdaughters, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney confirmed. The man, 37, whose name remains undisclosed to protect the victims' identities, faces a sentence of 30 years for his crimes, with sentencing scheduled for next month.

The man was charged with two counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree. According to court documents, the abuse began in September 2018 with his younger stepdaughter when she was merely 10 and continued through to June 2021. His older stepdaughter was similarly abused starting in September 2022 at age 12, until February 2024. The District Attorney stated, "This defendant used his role as the stepfather of these children not to protect and nurture them, but to prey upon them," in a press release from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. Tierney expressed hope that the case's resolution will allow the victims to begin to heal.

The case took a pivotal turn on February 8, 2024, when the mother of the victims found videos on the man's iPad that documented the abuse, leading to his arrest. These horrific acts included recordings made by the defendant himself, one of which took place as recently as February 7, 2024.

During his guilty plea before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis, the Brookhaven man admitted to the charges on February 19, 2026. The prosecution team for this case includes Assistant District Attorneys Zachary Kelly and Kirsten Reilly of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau, tasked with ensuring justice was served. The investigation fell under the jurisdiction of the Special Victims Section of the Suffolk County Police Department, with Detective Christopher Albanese at the helm.

As reported by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the defendant is being represented by the Legal Aid Society and will return to court for his sentencing on March 19. The District Attorney has not released the defendant's name to the public to maintain the anonymity and protect the dignity of the two young victims involved in this harrowing ordeal.
