Broward County is stepping up its tech game for local law enforcement with the launch of a new Regional Law Records Management System (LRMS). Over a span of 26 months, this system plans to revolutionize the way law enforcement communicates and handles data, by sharing information rapidly and efficiently.
As reported today, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners gave the green light for a $4 million contract with Niche Technology USA Limited on October 21, 2025. This deal centers on implementing the cloud-based NicheRMS365 to revamp the existing technological framework, offering law enforcement a consolidated and secure platform for managing tasks ranging from on-the-beat reports to dissecting criminal patterns.
The initiative is taking off with eight central agencies, including the Broward Sheriff's Office and police departments in Hollywood, Sunrise, and Lauderhill, as indicated by a news release. Broward County is footing the bill for the initial setup charges, and following system's final approval, these departments will undertake the ongoing support and maintenance fees starting after a year.
Broward County Mayor Mark Bogen emphasized the system's significance, stating "The investment and implementation of this new system put Broward at the forefront of public safety technology, ensuring first responders have the best tools available to keep our community safe." Eventually, 11 additional agencies, such as Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, and Miramar, may also join the LRMS fold, bearing no extra implementation charges, yet they will be responsible for acquiring software licenses and/or managing the accompanying support and maintenance fees, as noted by the county's website.
