
A Wednesday evening shooting on Marion Barry Avenue SE left a man and an 8-year-old boy injured, rattling a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood as rush hour wound down.
Police say they were called to the 1500 block of Marion Barry Avenue SE at about 6 p.m. for reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found both victims at the scene. According to authorities, the adult man was conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound, while the child appeared to have what investigators described as a possible graze wound.
Detectives have opened an active investigation into the incident, but details so far are thin. According to WJLA, police have not released any information about potential suspects or a motive, and both victims were found on the same 1500 block where officers first responded.
Police ask witnesses to come forward
