Cary is forecast to see snow and sleet overnight through tonight. Town officials said the A+Team will be working during the weather event. Officials also said a special brining process will not be used, as salt and sand from previous weather events are already present on roadways.
The Elite Eight, Cary’s snow command team, began operations at 5 p.m. yesterday, focusing on known slick spots and areas prone to icing. Town officials said all facilities and services are currently expected to operate as scheduled. However, curbside collection is running one day behind this week due to snowfall over the weekend, and additional delays are possible if conditions deteriorate. GoCary will notify riders of any service delays through its app and website, according to the Town of Cary.
Safety measures and priority protocols will be implemented once snow begins to accumulate, with plowing and treatment operations starting when accumulation reaches one inch. Crews will first address major thoroughfares, followed by primary subdivision streets, then through-streets and cul-de-sacs in subdivisions based on the trash pickup schedule. Town officials noted that private parking lots, including those at apartment and condominium complexes, businesses, and commercial centers, are not treated by the town.
Residents can view real-time road conditions using Cary’s live traffic cameras and traffic map. Safety tips and updates are available on the town’s cold weather resource page and social media channels. Questions or non-emergency service requests related to the weather can be submitted to Cary 311 or through the town’s online contact options.
