Celina’s taco scene is about to get a little louder. Torchy’s Tacos is slated to open its first Celina location on April 15, taking over a 3,800-square-foot space at the Village at Ownsby Farms, 3505 S. Preston Road, Suite 300. The Austin-born chain is building out a patio-friendly spot that will bring its signature tacos, all-day breakfast and a full bar to the busy Preston Road corridor.
Official opening date
The Celina outpost has circled April 15 as its grand opening date, with plans to serve a familiar lineup of tacos, bowls, burritos and breakfast favorites at 3505 S. Preston Road, Suite 300, according to Community Impact.
Permits and buildout
On the paperwork side, the project was registered with the state as TABS2025003458, with construction kicking off February 17, 2025, and an estimated completion date of July 21, 2025, for a 3,800-square-foot interior build-out, per the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Local project trackers have since spotted interior build-out work and new signage going up into early 2026 as the space inched toward its spring debut, according to CelinaWatch.
Menu and vibe
Founded in Austin in 2006, Torchy’s made its name on creative taco combinations and a green-chile queso that tends to inspire loyal followings. Local previews flag playful options like the Hogfather and the Tipsy Chick on the Celina menu, along with margaritas, a rotating taco of the month and all-day breakfast, according to WhatNow. Expect a casual, full-service setup with indoor seating and an outdoor patio, geared squarely at the steady flow of traffic along Preston Road.
Why it matters for Celina
The new Torchy’s will join a growing roster of national brands at the Village at Ownsby Farms, a 40-acre retail hub anchored by Celina’s first Costco and an Academy Sports + Outdoors, according to CelinaWatch. It is another sign of how quickly the area is changing, as Celina continues to rank among the fastest-growing cities in the country, a trend highlighted by the Dallas Business Journal.
Chain context
Torchy’s has grown from a single food trailer launched in 2006 into a regional chain with more than 110 restaurants in recent counts, a footprint that now extends deeper into fast-growing suburbs like Celina. At the same time, the company has not been shy about pruning its lineup, closing seven underperforming locations earlier this year as part of a broader portfolio reset, according to Restaurant Business.
