Charlotte County is tightening the taps on water use as a result of rainfall coming in below what's needed. The Southwest Florida Water Management District has laid out new guidelines for residents in regards to keeping their lawns and gardens hydrated. Starting from Feb. 8, watering is now confined to once a week per household, whether you're tapping into the city's supply or siphoning from your own private well, as reported by the Charlotte County’s official website.

The rules divide residents into three groups based on address numbers. Homes with even-numbered addresses may water on Thursday or Sunday, odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday or Saturday, and areas without a clear address on Tuesday or Friday, all during early morning or evening hours. Hand watering is allowed at any time, but sprinklers must be used only on assigned days, as reported by the Charlotte County.

These restrictions are meant to conserve water during dry conditions and will remain in place through early July. The goal is to protect water supplies and avoid more serious shortages.
