A Chinese national found with a fraudulent passport has been sentenced by a U.S. District Judge. According to a press release from the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana, Jingui Lin, who was arrested last October, will serve no additional jail time beyond what has already been served since his detention began on October 28, 2025. U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo ruled on the case, resulting in Lin's upcoming deportation.
Lin was caught by Customs and Border Protection officers who discovered he was in the country illegally and in possession of a Chinese passport displaying his photograph but another individual's name. The fraudulent documents also included a fake United States visa and CBP admission stamp, for which he had pleaded guilty to possessing in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1546(a). Lin's case unfolded as part of the nationwide Operation Take Back America.
The initiative, aimed at combating the influx of illegal immigration and dismantling transnational criminal organizations, mobilizes Justice Department resources for pressing issues. Assistant United States Attorney Christine M. Calogero of the General Crimes Unit pursued the prosecution, reinforcing the collaborative stance federal agencies are taking in this overarching crackdown on crime, as noted in the same press release.
Operation Take Back America pulls together the Department of Justice's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood to form a unified front. Enforcement actions under this program seek to staunch the flow of illegal activities attributed to cartels and safeguard communities from various crimes. Lin's arrest and subsequent prosecution, as detailed by the United States Attorney's Office's Public Information Officer Shane M. Jones, underscore the ongoing vigilance of U.S. border officials against such illegal entries.
