After months of legal wrangling and defiance of congressional subpoenas, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to sit down for filmed depositions regarding the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell scandal. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced the development, stating the depositions are set for late February. This agreement, reached after the Clintons were threatened with contempt of Congress, brings them back into a glaring spotlight, one that promises to revisit connections long speculated but never fully substantiated.

According to a statement from the Oversight Committee, the former political power couple initially resisted the committee's requests, failing to comply with scheduled depositions and using a funeral as a reason to avoid prior set dates. The Clintons were subsequently threatened with contempt, a move which appears to finally compel their cooperation. "Republicans and Democrats on the Oversight Committee have been clear: no one is above the law—and that includes the Clintons," Chairman Comer explained, underscoring the bipartisan demand for transparency.

The depositions are part of a larger investigation into the heinous acts carried out by the now-deceased financier Epstein and his associate Maxwell. Chairman Comer emphasized the significance of the testimony, asserting, “After delaying and defying duly issued subpoenas for six months, the House Oversight Committee moved swiftly to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings in response to their non-compliance. Once it became clear that the House of Representatives would hold them in contempt, the Clintons completely caved and will appear for transcribed, filmed depositions this month. We look forward to questioning the Clintons as part of our investigation into the horrific crimes of Epstein and Maxwell, to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors,” as noted by the Oversight Committee.

The Clintons have faced multiple investigations over the years and have often avoided legal consequences. It is still unclear what information will come from the upcoming depositions. Bill Clinton is scheduled to give his deposition on February 27, followed by Hillary Clinton on February 26.
