Atlanta police are calling on downtown residents, workers and commuters to help crack a killing in the heart of the city after 42-year-old Charlie Davis was found shot to death in a parking deck on Jan. 12. Officers discovered Davis lying on his side in the ninth-floor elevator lobby at 161 Peachtree Center Avenue NE with a single gunshot wound to the head, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The case remains open and investigators have not announced any arrests.
Police Offer Reward, Seek Witnesses
The Atlanta Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment, and investigators say they need any sliver of information the public can provide, according to FOX5. Tipsters are asked to contact the APD Homicide Unit at 404-546-4235, reach Detective Q. Green directly at 404-326-0156, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
Where And When Davis Was Found
Officers were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 12 to the 100 block of Peachtree Center Avenue NE, where they located Davis inside the parking deck at the Ascent Apartments, a block from the Peachtree Center MARTA station, as reported by 95.5 WSB. Investigators say he was found in the elevator lobby on the ninth floor, and police have not released a suspect description or a possible motive.
Investigation Status
The Atlanta Police Department continues to interview witnesses and comb through surveillance footage from the area, hoping to identify whoever pulled the trigger, per 11Alive. Detectives are asking anyone who may have relevant video, whether from a dashcam, a cell phone or nearby building cameras, to get in touch.
Why This Matters Downtown
The killing adds to unease around downtown safety after several high-profile shootings in recent years, including a June 2024 incident in the Peachtree Center food court that left multiple people wounded, according to reporting by WSB. City officials and police have repeatedly said that tips from people who live, work or travel through the area can be the difference between a stalled case and an arrest.
How To Help
Anyone with information is urged to call the APD Homicide Unit at 404-546-4235, contact Detective Q. Green at 404-326-0156, or reach Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tips that lead to an arrest may qualify for the $5,000 reward, per FOX5. Those who want to stay anonymous can submit information to Crime Stoppers online or by phone.
