Police in White Settlement say they have made multiple arrests in the brutal Jan. 30 home invasion that left 33-year-old Savanna Parker dead, a killing that neighbors say sent nearby schools and daycares into brief lockdowns. Investigators say the breaks in the case came only after days of combing through surveillance video and tracking down community tips.
The White Settlement Police Department said in a statement that several people were taken into custody and that a 2 p.m. news conference was scheduled to identify those arrested, according to CBS News. Investigators said they leaned on automated license-plate readers and other video technology to zero in on the suspects, though officials had not yet released their names or the list of charges.
Officers were dispatched just after 3 p.m. on Jan. 30 to the 600 block of Meadow Park Drive, where they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, The Dallas Morning News reported. The Tarrant County medical examiner, along with local reporting, identified her as 33-year-old Savanna Michelle Parker, who was taken to a hospital and later died.
Suspects Caught On Camera
Investigators released still images of the suspects, described as male teens or young adults, dressed in dark clothing with black hoodies, face coverings and weapons visible, according to FOX 4. Neighbors’ doorbell and home-surveillance cameras recorded people bolting from the house, and officers said the group ran westbound on Wyatt Drive before leaving the area.
How Police Say They Traced The Suspects
Detectives credited a mix of private and city surveillance cameras and automated license-plate readers with helping narrow their suspect list. Multiple agencies assisted the hunt, including the Fort Worth Police Real‑Time Crime Center, a helicopter aviation unit and K‑9 teams from Westworth Village and Sansom Park, according to CBS News. Officials have not detailed the exact charges and say the investigation remains active.
Schools Locked Down, Neighbors Shaken
Liberty Elementary, Brewer Middle School and a nearby daycare were briefly placed on lockdown while officers searched the neighborhood, local outlets reported. Doorbell-camera video and accounts from residents captured several gunshots and people sprinting away from the scene, according to NBC DFW, leaving neighbors rattled in the middle of the afternoon.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects to contact Sgt. Steven Person at 817-246-7070, ext. 419, or to send anonymous tips to Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS, according to The Dallas Morning News. Tipsters may qualify for a cash reward if their information leads to an indictment.
Surveillance Tech And Community Concerns
White Settlement uses automated license-plate readers and shares camera access with neighboring agencies, tools that police say help them move faster on serious crimes, according to reporting by the Fort Worth Report. City leaders and law-enforcement officials describe the systems as a force multiplier for smaller departments, even as privacy advocates raise concerns about how the technology is used.
Authorities say they plan to identify those arrested and lay out the next steps in the case at the scheduled news conference. In the meantime, detectives continue to pore over video, interview witnesses and follow up on tips in what officials describe as an active homicide investigation.
