A DUI investigation in a St. Johns County neighborhood last Thursday resulted in a felony drug case after deputies reported finding 27-year-old Tyler Mongon asleep in a vehicle in the Vale Drive area. According to deputies, a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered multiple controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Mongon was arrested, booked into the county jail, and faces a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.
Per the Arrests.org county booking log, Mongon was processed into the St. Johns County Jail on Thursday night. The online record lists him under that name and notes the evening booking. The booking page reflects only the initial custody status and does not replace charging documents filed with the courts, which are public record.
Vehicle Search Uncovered Meth, THC And Small Amounts Of Cocaine
As reported by Action News Jax, deputies responding to the Vale Drive area said they found an open alcoholic beverage and two glass smoking devices with residue inside the vehicle. According to that report, a further search turned up more than 39 grams of waxy substances that tested positive for THC, about 21 grams of methamphetamine and roughly 0.8 grams of cocaine.
The same report states that Mongon was arrested and booked on charges that include possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, possession of cocaine, DUI, refusal to submit to testing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Legal Stakes For Meth Trafficking In Florida
Under Florida law, having 14 grams or more of methamphetamine can trigger trafficking or possession-with-intent charges that carry mandatory minimum prison terms and fines, with penalties increasing at higher quantities. Deputies reported roughly 21 grams in this case, which is above the 14 gram threshold the state treats as a trafficking level offense (Florida Statute 893.135).
Booking And Next Steps
Booking records show Mongon was processed at the St. Johns County detention center, which the sheriff’s office says handles intake and pretrial housing for county arrests. For now, the online booking log reflects only that he is in custody; formal charging documents and any scheduled court appearances will be available through the clerk and court system as the case moves forward. For inmate services and contact details related to the detention center, see the information page maintained by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
