North Texas is waking up on the chilly side, with Dallas readings sitting in the mid-30s, but the cold will not stick around for long. Sunshine teamed up with a south breeze will send afternoon temperatures into the upper 60s, making today the warmest in nearly two weeks and a solid choice for any outdoor errands.
Afternoon Warmth And Breeze
By midday, south winds around 5 to 15 mph will kick in, with occasional gusts near 20 to 25 mph, and afternoon highs topping out near 67°F. Clouds will thicken this evening, and overnight temperatures will hold near 51°F as low clouds move in and a slight chance of rain develops after about 3 a.m. A weak cold front will slip through on Tuesday, triggering widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms mainly east of I-35, with most spots picking up less than a quarter inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
What To Expect This Week
Wednesday will feel cooler, with highs dropping back into the 50s, but the cool-down will not last. By late week, a milder pattern returns, and afternoon highs climb again into the 60s and 70s heading into the weekend. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, above-normal temperatures are expected through much of the coming week.
Plan For The Commute
Most of the Dallas-Fort Worth area should stay dry today, so the Monday drive looks straightforward. For Tuesday, though, anyone commuting along or east of I-35 should plan for brief showers and a possible rumble of thunder, and a light rain layer would not be a bad idea. There are no watches or warnings in effect right now, so enjoy the sunshine while it sticks around.
