Residents in DeKalb County will need to adjust their waste disposal calendars for the upcoming Presidents Day holiday. According to the sanitation schedule released by the county, there will be no sanitation services on Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents Day. Instead, residents who typically have Monday pickups will need to set their trash out for collection on Tuesday, Feb. 17, as detailed in an announcement from the DeKalb County Government.

This shift in schedule means that for the entire week, residential sanitation collection will be pushed back by one day. Those whose regular service day falls on Tuesday will now be serviced on Wednesday, Feb. 18 and so on throughout the week, with normal service resuming the following Monday. Essentially, the Monday holiday has cascaded the effect of altering the usual routine into the remaining days of the week.

In addition to the residential collection adjustments, the North Transfer Station will operate on limited hours during Presidents Day, from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., before returning to its normal operating hours on Tuesday. On the other hand, several key facilities including the Customer Care Call Center, the administration building, the Central Transfer Station, and the Seminole Road Landfill will all observe the holiday closure, remaining shut on Monday and reopening during their standard business hours on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

To help residents navigate the change in sanitation services, DeKalb's Sanitation Division’s Customer Care team is available for inquiries. They can be reached at 404-294-2900 or via email at [email protected]. For further information, residents can also visit the sanitation division's website or follow their updates on social media.
