Ianni's Pizzeria in Delmont is back in action for takeout this week, more than a year after a late‑2024 blaze gutted its Freeport Street storefront. The comeback marks a big moment for the family‑run shop and the Westmoreland County regulars who stuck with it through a long stretch of repairs. Staff says the return will roll out with limited service while inspections wrap up and final touches are finished.
In a Facebook post to customers, the pizzeria wrote, "We have missed all of you and being in Delmont!" and explained that the shop would start with reduced hours, according to Patch. CBS Pittsburgh also captured the reopening this week, showing staff passing boxes through the front door as customers swung by for takeout.
The blaze that shuttered the shop
The Delmont location was heavily damaged when a fire broke out just before 4 a.m. on Sept. 29, 2024, leaving smoke and roofline damage but no injuries, according to WPXI. The owners kept customers in the loop after the blaze, and their resolve to reopen was tracked in early coverage by Hoodline, as they laid out plans to rebuild.
National attention days before the fire
Just days before the fire, the Delmont shop drew a burst of national attention when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy stopped in for one of his One Bite reviews and scored the pizza a 7.7, a rating that briefly spiked traffic to the small storefront, CBS Pittsburgh reported. Portnoy praised the sauce and crust and called the slice "shockingly good" in his video review.
What customers should know
Ianni's says the Delmont spot will run limited hours and focus on takeout while the crew settles back in. The restaurant's website lists current hours and highlights the chain's other locations in Vandergrift and New Derry, according to Ianni's Pizzeria. Customers planning large orders are encouraged to call ahead as the shop rebuilds staff and service capacity.
In its reopening message, the ownership team thanked first responders and neighbors who helped them through inspections and repairs, echoing the gratitude they voiced in the days immediately after the fire, WPXI reported. For Delmont residents, the return of Ianni's means a familiar local stop for wood‑fired pies is officially back on the map.
