The FBI is putting up a $20,000 reward as investigators double down on the hunt for whoever killed Corey Adams, an 18-year-old Ole Miss freshman shot to death after a crowded summer party in Cordova. Months after the July shooting that also left four other young men wounded, the case is still open and authorities are clearly hoping cash will shake loose the truth.

According to FOX13 Memphis, the bureau is offering $20,000 for information that leads to arrests in the shooting. Tips can be called in to 1-800-225-5324 or submitted through the FBI’s online tip portal.

What happened

Investigators say Adams was found with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene following a July 19 pool party in the Cordova area. Four other men were also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries, according to The Associated Press. Authorities are treating the case as a homicide and have not publicly identified any suspects.

Family members and teammates are still mourning the Ole Miss freshman and have repeatedly urged anyone who saw or heard anything that night to step forward, even if they think what they know is minor.

Investigation details

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office told reporters it recovered more than 40 rifle and pistol shell casings near the scene, and said the burst of gunfire appears tied to a weekend pool party that drew roughly 100 people, WSMV reported.

Local authorities also said a black Nissan sedan drove past the gathering and someone inside the vehicle opened fire, according to FOX13 Memphis. Deputies are asking anyone who has surveillance video, photos or eyewitness accounts from that night to turn them over, hoping a small detail could finally point to the shooters.

Reward history and community push

CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County had already raised the stakes before the FBI stepped in, increasing a local reward that reached about $21,000 after donations from Adams’ family and wider community fundraising, WLBT reported.

Investigators say the FBI’s $20,000 offer is meant to supplement those existing rewards and create an extra nudge for anyone who might be sitting on information.

How to submit tips

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI tip line at 1-800-225-5324 or submit a report online at tips.fbi.gov. Tips can also be shared anonymously with CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH. Authorities stress that even details that seem small or unimportant on their own could help them piece together what happened.

No arrests have been announced. Shelby County officials and Adams’ family continue to push for witnesses to speak up and for residents to check neighborhood camera footage, hoping that a combination of community pressure and boosted reward money will finally crack the case.
