A 21-year-old previously convicted felon, Lorenzo Greene, has been sentenced to a 30-month term in federal prison. This sentencing comes after Greene's involvement in a high-speed pursuit that culminated in him crashing into an unmarked FBI vehicle and being found with a handgun and a quantity of marijuana intended for distribution, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
Greene, who had previously faced charges of carrying a pistol without a license, entered a guilty plea to one count of intent to distribute controlled substances and one count of illegal firearm possession by a felon last November. As part of his sentence, Greene will also be subject to three years of supervised release post-incarceration. Court documents reveal that the incident, which occurred on August 24, 2025, began when Greene, driving a Nissan Altima with heavily tinted windows and bearing a stolen Virginia license plate, violated a red light and ventured across the center of the road into oncoming traffic, as detailed by the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
In the document filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office, when police attempted to stop the vehicle, Greene chose to flee, driving the Altima at an increased speed. His attempt to evade capture led to a collision with an FBI vehicle on duty in the area, after which Greene tried to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended. Authorities discovered a Taurus G3C handgun, complete with a high-capacity magazine containing 17 rounds and one additional round chambered, in Greene's possession. They additionally uncovered approximately five ounces of marijuana, alongside scales, packaging materials, and a sum of $369 in cash.
The charges faced by Greene were the result of a collaborative investigation effort by the Metropolitan Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jolie Zimmerman prosecuted the case as part of the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Initiative, an operation backed by a previous presidential executive order with intentions to reduce gun violence and reinforce the consequences for federal firearms offenses.
