On a frosty Sunday morning in Newton Township, four horses fell through ice at Turtle Creek Golf Course but were rescued unharmed. According to CBS News, the horses had strayed from their enclosure before the ice broke.

The ALURT Dive Team, along with firefighters from Burlington, East Leroy Township, Newton Township, and Union City, responded to the incident under the coordination of the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority. “Through coordinated efforts and careful handling, all four horses were successfully rescued,” deputies said in a statement to CBS News.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the ALURT Dive Team helped rescue the horses, with divers entering the water to extract each animal with assistance from nearby fire departments. All horses were able to walk away and received medical attention, with no injuries reported.

The sheriff’s office praised the quick response and coordination among agencies, noting that no responders or animals were hurt during the operation.
