A Frisco elementary school educator is facing a felony charge after police say he was caught up in an invasive visual recording investigation tied to a local campus. Officers arrested 48-year-old Michael Cheek on Tuesday as part of what they are calling an active criminal probe, and listed the call-for-service number as 2026-00013302 in their report.
Police account and school involvement
In a news release posted on X by the Frisco Police Department, investigators said detectives worked "in coordination with the district" during the case and confirmed that Cheek is employed at Billy Gene Phillips Elementary School. According to police, he was arrested and charged with invasive visual recording.

Detectives have not released information about any alleged victims or where the alleged recordings were made. They are asking anyone who might have information to call 972-292-6010 or submit anonymous tips through the Frisco PD app or by texting FRISCOPD and the tip to 847411 (tip411).
What the law says
Under Texas law, invasive visual recording is a state-jail felony, which carries a potential sentence of 180 days to two years in state jail and a fine of up to $10,000. In 2025, lawmakers broadened the statute and added invasive visual recording to the list of offenses that can require sex-offender registration for conduct committed on or after Sept. 1, 2025. For more details, see the Texas Penal Code and the House Bill 1465 analysis.
Local precedent
North Texas districts have seen similar cases in recent years, often leading schools to pull staffers from classrooms while investigators sort through digital evidence. Last October, the arrest of a Celina teacher on invasive-recording and related child-pornography charges triggered a broader investigation, as reported by NBC DFW.
How to report tips
Frisco police are again urging anyone with information to contact the department at 972-292-6010, use the Frisco PD mobile app, or send an anonymous text by messaging FRISCOPD and the tip to 847411 (tip411), the Frisco Police Department said. The investigation remains open, and detectives are particularly interested in any relevant footage or information that could help move the case forward.
