The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of Clarence Scott, Jr., the man sought in a shooting that took place in Garyville on February 3, 2026. According to a Facebook post shared by the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, surveillance footage obtained during the investigation captured Scott discharging a firearm on the 100 block of Historic West Street.
Scott, 32, was discovered with a leg wound after deputies responded to reports of gunfire at around 2:42 p.m. Lying on the ground on Historic West Street, he claimed that he heard shots and was hit while attempting to flee the scene. Initially uncooperative, a warrant for Scott's arrest was issued after it was determined by authorities that he also had fired a weapon. Turning himself in on February 9, Scott has been released on a $35,339 bond and faces charges that include illegal weapon possession and two counts of contempt of court, as reported by the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office.
During the February 3 incident, several homes and a vehicle suffered damage as a result of the gunfire. According to the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, spent shell casings scattered across the scene hinted at the violence of the exchange. Ashley Johnson, Jr., a 19-year-old from Reserve, was apprehended and charged with aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of weapons. A 16-year-old juvenile, also from Reserve, faces similar charges, along with the illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
The arrests of Johnson and the male juvenile occurred around 5:45 p.m. the same day, following a traffic stop in Reserve. Booked with aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of weapons, their involvement adds to the narrative pieced together by local law enforcement on that chaotic February afternoon. Clarence Scott, Jr. now awaits his day in court to answer to the allegations presented against him.
