The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is currently looking into an officer-involved shooting in Gwinnett County that left one police officer dead and another severely injured. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Kevin Andrews of Decatur, has been shot and wounded in the confrontation. According to a press release by the GBI, the incident took place yesterday, when two Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to a report of credit card theft at the Holiday Inn Express located at 1790 E. The GBI reports that both officers were hit during the exchange and one was able to return fire before additional law enforcement arrived. The injured officers were rushed to a local hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other was admitted for surgery in critical condition, Andrews was also hospitalized with a stable gunshot wound.

The latest update from the GBI stated that Kevin Andrews now faces multiple charges.
