The City of Kannapolis is stepping up its health game with the release of the Be Well mobile application, aimed at promoting fitness and wellness within the community. Announced via the city's official website, the app presents an innovative effort to encourage residents to stay active and connect with others through the Loop the Loop 2026 Challenge.
The Be Well app, designed to be intuitive and accessible, syncs conveniently with popular health platforms such as Fitbit, Garmin, and Samsung Health, along with Apple Health and Health Connect. It takes an approach that allows users to not only track their steps but to also log various activities—biking, kayaking, and more—converting them into steps. By doing so, the app seamlessly blends into everyday life, encouraging to seamlessly register for the Loop the Loop challenge and to start tracking their fitness journey.
Kannapolis residents are nudged to meet specific milestones within the year: 200,000 steps by March 31, 400,000 steps by June 30, 600,000 steps by September 30, and to culminate with 800,000 steps by December 31. These targets underpin the broader initiative of the city, which is part and parcel of the Discover a Healthy Life program, emphasizing a communal stride towards health and wellness.
For local residents looking to jump-start their health journey or to simply maintain their current regimen, the Be Well app and Loop the Loop program offer not just a tracking tool but also a community-centric challenge. The app is currently available to download for free from both the Apple and Google Play Stores, and it incentivizes participation with the chance to win prizes.
