The Ladue Police Department is gearing up for a chilly challenge at the end of this month, all for a good cause. Officers will be taking a literal plunge into frigid waters as part of the Maryland Heights Polar Plunge, an event designed to raise funds for Special Olympics Missouri. Adhering to the community's spirit of benevolence, they've called on residents to either contribute financially or root for them at Creve Coeur Lake on February 28 at 1:00 PM.
In a statement shared on the City of Ladue's official Facebook page, the department expressed anticipation for the event: "❄️🚔 If you think it’s cold today… just wait until you see what our officers have planned. 🥶" In addition to inviting monetary donations through a provided link, the post encouraged followers to support the team by sharing the post or attending the plunge in person. The officers' commitment is a testament to their investment in the community, highlighting a willingness to go beyond the call of duty for important causes.
Special Olympics Missouri is an organization committed to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports. The Polar Plunge is one of many fundraisers held across the country, contributing to year-round sports training and athletic competition. Contributions to the Ladue team's efforts can be made through their fundraising webpage, where individuals can support their valiant, albeit cold, plunge.
For those who can't contribute financially, the department has emphasized the role of community support at the event, "Can’t donate? Share this post or come cheer us on!" With February 28 on the horizon, the officers of the Ladue Police Department are preparing to make a splash, both in the icy waters of Creve Coeur Lake and in the hearts of those they serve, as noted by the City of Ladue.
