A Lakeville man is sitting in the Dakota County Jail after investigators say they uncovered videos of children being used in sexual performances, setting off a fast-moving case that is now in the hands of both state agents and local police.
Court filings identify the suspect as 30-year-old Nicholas Roger Goldberg of Lakeville. Prosecutors have charged him with three felony counts of "Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance," tied to alleged incidents in mid-December 2025 and late January 2026. The case is now working its way through Dakota County District Court while forensic analysts keep digging through seized electronics.
According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, predatory crime agents at the agency's St. Paul headquarters received a tip that led them to a Lakeville residence. Working with the Lakeville Police Department, agents executed a search warrant at the home, where investigators say they found evidence that resulted in Goldberg's arrest.
The complaint and coverage by Limitless Media News both note that Goldberg is accused of using minors in sexual performances on multiple occasions. Investigators seized electronic devices during the search and are still going through the material, and according to prosecutors, additional charges could follow depending on what that analysis turns up.
What the charges mean
Under Minnesota law, "use of a minor in a sexual performance" is a felony offense. When the victim is under 14, the crime can carry a prison term of up to 15 years and a fine of up to $40,000, and consent from a parent or the child cannot be used as a defense. The same statute also defines child sexual abuse material and allows for tougher penalties when that material is produced or distributed.
The Office of the Revisor of Statutes publishes the full statutory language, including how Minnesota law handles sexual performances involving minors and the range of penalties a judge can impose.
In its public statement, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said agents had Goldberg in custody by about 6 p.m., and that he was booked into the Dakota County Jail by around 7:30 p.m. Authorities said he appeared in court on Friday. Prosecutors requested high bail in the case, and Limitless Media News reports that investigators are still working through the digital evidence.
What happens next
Goldberg remains in custody as the case moves through Dakota County District Court. The investigation is still active and investigators are continuing forensic work on the seized devices.
Authorities have not released any identifying information about the alleged victims. Officials are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Minnesota BCA or the Lakeville Police Department.
