A Maine driver faced charges after his Ford F-350 pickup truck caused havoc at a Massachusetts rest area, striking the front entrance of a Dunkin' Donuts and a Burger King before engaging in a bizarre display of vehicle acrobatics in the parking lot. The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. Thursday off Route 24 South in Bridgewater, with state police confirming the arrest and subsequent charges, as reported by WCVB.
Amid the chaotic morning, a Burger King employee, Denise Agnello, detailed the shocking event in an interview obtained by 7NEWS. "I was sitting in the dining room about 4 a.m., when a loud crash shook the whole building," Agnello said. "A big F-250 hit the front of the building," Agnello said. "I ran out, and he gassed it in reverse, took off forward, did some donuts in the parking lot and then left the rest area. But luckily, his license plate fell off," as reported by 7NEWS.
Following the initial crash, the same pickup truck was involved in another collision nearly 30 miles south in Westport. There, the driver, 30-year-old Andrew Beaulieu of Carthage, Maine, was detained after displaying signs of impairment. Beaulieu now faces multiple charges, including operating under the influence of drugs and negligent operation, although it remains unclear if there were any injuries associated with either incident.
Despite the intrusion, there was no structural damage to the rest area building, and normal operations were able to continue soon after, according to Bridgewater Fire in a statement. The rest stop has been kept open while the investigation carries on, as mentioned in a developing report by Boston25News. This erratic series of events has left authorities piecing together the morning's occurrences and determining the full scope of repercussions stemming from Beaulieu's alleged actions.
